Specimen Explorer for Phytotaxonomists (Prototype)

The World Flora Online will be the result of the work of the global community of plant taxonomists. Describing, classifying and naming of plants is intimately related to collections of plant specimens. The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) has created an international network of data providers, in which many herbaria provide information about their specimen holdings. This interface is based on this network, it singles out herbarium specimens (as opposed to observation records and those from animals etc.) from selected herbaria. The interface shall be directed specifically to phytotaxonomists as the user community; it serves to discover data that may be useful in the taxonomic work process. Your comments on the usability are welcome.
Data are presented as they are provided by the participating institutions. Data cleaning efforts are work in progress. You can provide feedback using the AnnoSys annotation system (presently not possible for all types of recors) or by contacting the person specified as a curatorial contact for the collection.
