Help for creating a new taxon name to be used as synonym
This form allows you to create a new taxon name in order to create a synonym.
- You must indicate the synonymy category if it is no plain synonym.
- If the synonym is an hybrid formula you must follow the corresponding link "Synonym is hybrid formula".
- With the combo box you can select another rank for the synonym.
- You must fill the fields with the name parts (and if needed indicate the level for hybrids).
- The field UnnamedNamePhrase can be used to add name elements that are not in accordance with the rules of ICBN but which are needed (e.g. "unnamed taxa" or historical ranks as "grex").
- If the synonym is a cultivar you should enter the cultivar name and eventually the cultivar group name both without quotation marks, brackets or parentheses.
- You can select author teams and basionym author teams in two steps: first selecting the first two characters and then the author team itself (each time with the combo boxes).
- If you do not find the author team you look for, you can create it by following the "New author team" link and then chose it.
- You can also edit notes for the name you want to use as synonym and/or for the synonymy relationship you are creating.
- With the "Check" button you can check whether the data you entered follow nomenclatural rules.
- With the "Apply" button you create the name to be used as synonym and the synonymy relation to your accepted taxon name. Afterwards you get back to the main form.
- And, as usual, with the "Cancel" button you get back to the main form without having created any synonym.
